Well, I got the job at Barnes & Noble and I start tonight. The interview was fun. She basically asked me like two or three questions and said “Well, I’ve heard enough. I want to hire you. Can you start tomorrow?” So, I start tonight. I’m scheduled for 24 hours between now and Saturday so I probably won’t be doing a “real” post until then. And ~ I won’t just be seasonal. I’m permanent part-time, although I won’t always be working this many hours ~ I think a few nights a week is sufficient, but I’ll work one weekend day if they need me. I did tell her I won’t work both weekend days ~ I need a break sometime ๐
Hey! Congratulations! Do you get an employee discount? LOL My sister is an avid reader and has a part time book store job in part because of the 30% discount! LOL

I’ll get 30% also. I’ll be at Barnes & Noble all day on Saturday, so if you happen to be in the store that day be sure you say “hi”.

Hey, congrats, Dev! That’s one wonderful job…even without the discount. (I think.) To be surrounded by books is heaven enough for me. :o)

Kookie ~ Absolutely. I love being in book stores ~ any bookstore. It doesn’t matter if it’s the UBS, the library, B&N, Borders…you name it, I’ll go there.

You know I was thinking (okay whining to myself) about how busy I am and then I’m reading your posts and comments and crikeys girl…you are one busy little chickadee!
Congrats on the job and the discount!

Rosie ~ Thanks! I am excited. The bad thing is I’m so tired and I know I’m not going to get a good night’s sleep until Saturday. Sunday, I’m planning on lounging around in my PJ’s and doing absolutely nothing.
Jen ~ I’m looking forward to it. It’s almost the perfect job.

I tried to post yeterday to congratulate you, but blogger wouldn’t ever give me the word verification, darn it! So, better late tan never ๐

Second, WOOOHOOO! Congrats on the job. That’s awesome! I’d be in heaven! And for it to be perm, instead of just seasonal? SCORE! LOL
Be sure to let us (read that as: ME) know how your first night is. ๐

Holly ~ Howdy stranger! You have been sorely missed in these parts. Good to see you! The job started last night and I love it so far. If it paid more, it’d be the perfect job ๐
Nath ~ Thanks! I’m enjoying it. The only problem I foresee is it’s really going to cut into my reading time. Seems like an oxymoron to work in a bookstore to get a discount on books and then not having the time to read them ๐

Wow! Working in a bookstore – 30% discount. Sounds like a dream job ๐ Congrats to you!!

Izzy ~ I’m really enjoying it. AND I got to bring home a couple ARCs last night….Now I just have to find the time somehow to read them.

Whoa, wait just a minute here. You get ARC’s, too? Oh.Hell.Naw. That’s wrong. I’m going to B&N tomorrow to see if they’re hiring. LOL

Haha Devonna!
It’s like Wendy (from the Super Librarian blog) says… Unlike to everyone’s belief, it’s not because you work with books that you get to spend your time to read ^^;

Holly ~ So, did you get hired? ๐
Cindy ~ I have not left the house ~ I’ve barely left the couch. ๐
Mailyn ~ It’s fun. Way too many hours, though. I’m exhausted. I don’t work a lot with the kids ~ they have me in the cashwrap area doing cashiering.
Nath ~ Exactly. I have no time to read. My one day off this week and I’ve pretty much slept all day. I hope I get used to this schedule soon.
On an aside ~ I said I’d work 1 or 2 evenings a week, plus a weekend day if they needed me. They have working everyday ~ next week, I’ll have close to 30 hours, plus my regular job. They say it’s for training, but I’m not so sure I can keep this pace up.

Congrats, Devonna! I know you’re gonna love that discount.
As someone who just quit the bs after 4 years, I must say I admire those willing to do retail. Working 2 jobs can be stressful (at one point I was even doing 3 jobs) but you’re young, and the money can be good. You seem to be more easygoing than me anyways LOL. I hope you have tons of fun.

Oooh, Devonna! Congrats on the new job! And at B&N! Woot! Have a great time and enjoy being surrounded by all those books! (not to mention the discount!)

Not yet, Dev, but I seriously am going to apply. If not to B&N, then to Borders. I need a second job and that one sounds perfect.
However, not if they work you into the ground. Poor baby! I hope they cut your hours back soon!

Cindy ~ Yes, and I’m tired. I’m too old for this, I think. It wouldn’t be bad if they’d only schedule me the 1-2 nights I said I’d be available to work. But they’re scheduling me an average of 30 hours and that’s just an insane pace for me.
Stacy ~ You’re braver than I am ~ I won’t work in the cafe (I had an espresso machine explode on me once) Everyone there does seem very friendly ~ I just need less hours there. I’m going to visit with the manager tonight when I get to work.
Colleen ~ Thanks! It’s been fun and I’ve gotten more ideas on things to read ~ problem is I’m so tired when I’m done working that I don’t have the energy to shop.
Holly ~ Let me know. I’ll be rooting for you!
Ames ~ Thanks! I just wish I had more time for my other activities. I keep telling myself it’ll slow down. Hopefully soon it will.
